Blockchain
Blockchain is a distributed digital ledger technology that records transactions across multiple computers in a way that ensures the security, transparency, and immutability of the data. Each transaction or record is grouped into a block, and these blocks are linked together in chronological order to form a chain, hence the name “blockchain.” This structure prevents tampering or alteration of the recorded information, as changing a single block would require altering all subsequent blocks, which is computationally infeasible in a large network.
Blockchain is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by a single entity, but rather maintained by a network of nodes (computers) that validate and agree on the contents of the ledger. This consensus mechanism enhances trust and security, making blockchain useful for various applications beyond cryptocurrencies, including supply chain management, healthcare, voting systems, and more. Its inherent characteristics allow for improved traceability, efficiency, and accountability in transactions, making it a transformative technology in numerous industries.
